Yes! Dang Bar is low carb and Keto Certified and is suitable for anyone following a ketogenic diet. The low net carb count and high fat make it the perfect snack to help stay within your carb limit and hit your fat needs. Dang Bar is made from a combination of almond butter, cocoa butter, coconut, complete pea protein, sunflower seeds and chia. It contains an ideal ratio of macronutrients for a high fat, moderate protein, low carb keto diet: 70% fat, 20% protein, and 10% net carbs.
Dang Bar contains pea protein and a small amount of rice flour. If you’re following a Paleo diet that allows for this, Dang Bar can fit into a Paleo lifestyle.
An ideal keto diet is high fat, moderate protein, low carbohydrate. The way many keto dieters get this breakdown is to avoid ingredients with lots of carbs and there are lists that advise keto dieters to avoid things like legumes, grains, or certain fruits/vegetables. Our Dang Bar is 100% plant based, and while it contains peas and rice flour, it’s got the perfect nutritional profile for a keto diet.
Chicory root fiber, made from the root of chicory plants, is a great source of fiber. Chicory root fiber is special in the fact that is soluble and also functions as a prebiotic. This kind of Inulin fiber helps with keeping food flowing through you at a regular pace and makes you feel more full after consumption. This ingredient is especially great if you're trying to work on portion control or intermittent fasting. In fact, some people use this earthy plant powder as a caffeine-free substitute to their morning coffee.
At Dang Foods we used blood glucose testing as a proxy to confirm Dang Bar is “keto friendly”. While our bars are formulated with the optimal ratio of macronutrients for a keto diet, 70% fat, 20% protein and 10% carbs, we wanted to make sure our ingredients were not spiking blood sugar.
We ran several tests within a two week period where we ate a Dang Bar every day while in ketosis (blood ketone levels remained between 1.0 and 2.1 mmol/L). The average glucose spike after eating a bar was 10mg with the majority of spikes falling between the 0-5mg range.
All tests within the two week period showed Dang Bar did not spike my blood glucose to 30mg or more, therefore it is not likely to affect blood ketone levels.
For more information see our article I’m on a Ketogenic Diet. Will Dang Bar Spike My Blood Glucose?
Dang Bar is for everyone. While great for a ketogenic lifestyle, it’s also perfect for anyone looking for snacks that are low carb, plant based, or vegan friendly. Dang Bar is designed for anyone looking for a filling, satiating snack that brings sustained energy and doesn't spike your blood sugar like other honey/maple/brown rice syrup laden bars. If you’re looking for foods made with real, clean wholesome ingredients with no added sugar, Dang Bar is for you.
Everyone’s diets are different and their definitions of meals can vary. Dang Bar contains 210 calories and 14-15g of Fat. Typically on ketogenic diets containing foods higher in fat, you can expect to experience less hunger and feel fuller faster. Dang Bar is a great grab and go breakfast, mid-morning snack, pre or post workout fuel, desk snack, or after dinner treat.
Dang Bar should be stored in a room temperature, dry environment away from direct heat or sunlight. With that said, it is made with real ingredients and can become soft or release oils in warmer temperatures. They’re still safe to eat but can be put in the refrigerator to regain the proper texture and consistency.

Generally, A ketogenic diet is a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet. Keto refers to a ketogenic diet or the metabolic state of ketosis.
On a typical carbohydrate diet (including sugar, breads, grains, fruit, etc.) the body burns glucose for energy.
But when the body is depleted of carbohydrates it is forced to turn to fats for energy.
Ketosis is the metabolic process in which the body uses fat stores as it’s primary source of energy (as opposed to glucose). When the body does not have enough sugar from carbohydrates to use as energy, the liver uses fat to create ketones which are used as fuel.
The primary function of a ketogenic diet is to achieve and stay in ketosis. Generally, 70% of calories come from fat, 20% from protein, and 10% from carbs. Most people eat between 0-50g of net carbs per day to stay in ketosis.
If you are embarking on a keto diet for the first time, we recommend you consult with your medical practitioner prior to making any dramatic changes to your current diet.

Keto dieters often experience a series of side effects as their bodies adjust to the ketogenic diet. As a result of restricting carbohydrates these include fatigue, dizziness, lightheadedness, poor sleep, difficulty with exercise, and constipation, all resulting from extreme restriction of carbohydrates.
These symptoms typically subside between a few days to a few weeks after the body fully enters into ketosis and adjusts to relying on fat for fuel. Increasing fat, water, salt, and magnesium intake can help fight off keto flu.
